Brought a small American schooner (of about 15 tons). This vessel was the property of Capt. Hayes who had embarked 13 runaway Convicts at Guam for Ascension. Capt Hayes was arrested by the Authorities at Guam and the Convicts ran away with the vessel, taking with them the other man who was the only belonging to the vessel. The vessel got to the Pellews where the convicts got away in different traders to Singapore and elsewhere; the old man, the mate of the schooner, got the master of the Scotland to tow her to Hongkong.
